AFRO KINKY CURLY TEXTURE "Afro kinky curly" boasts tight kinky curls. A very tight curl pattern that is bold and beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous and very natural looking. This texture boasts lots of sexy volume. You can fluff the hair for a fully afro look, or allow it to air dry and enjoy the pretty curl pattern. Please note that while this and other Afro textures are incredibly natural-looking in appearance, they do require additional maintenance and are generally not recommended if you do not have experience with tight curly textures. Please see our Application Maintenance and Removal Guide for tips on maintaining and caring for curly hair. Due to the tight curl pattern, this texture is not recommended for flatironing. Our demi-LACE(TM) lace front wigs are made with 100% human hair.
  1. Three large combs comfortably hold your unit in place.

You have to take care of your unit's hair with the same care that you would to healthfully maintain your own hair. This means that you should not reprocess the hair using harsh chemicals and should take concerted steps to minimize tangling, dry hair & breakage, split ends, etc.

You should expect a small measure of tangling as all hair gets a little messy and needs grooming. Make sure to carefully comb through the hair but do not comb excessively or tug the hair because this will compromise your lace front wig by increasing shedding of the hair. As great as these extensions look and feel, they are products to be maintained and will not last forever. However, they are constructed to last a long time with proper care and handling. To help deter tangling, braid hair at night, keep moisturized and we also recommended for you to tie hair at night with a silk scarf, especially around the hairline.

APPLYING YOUR LACE WIG

Hair extension & hair replacement products contain ingredients that may cause skin irritations or allergic reactions. Do not use if you have had a previous reaction or if skin is sensitive, irritated or injured. Perform the skin allergy test 48 hours before use and only use as directed according to manufacturer labeling and instructions.

Getting Started

Step 1. Gather your application products for easy access and prepare your own hair by either braiding into small cornrows or wrapping your hair tightly. The main objective is to get your hair as flat as possible.

Step 2. Pin and clip all hairs (especially baby hairs) away from the edges of the wig's perimeter.

Step 3. Apply a small amount of knot sealer to lace as directed on package and allow it to dry (optional). Carefully cut extra lace around the perimeter of the wig up to where the hair is knotted, being careful not to cut into baby hairs.

Step 4. Position wig on your head leaving enough room at your hairline to prep your skin. OPTIONAL: use a stocking or wig cap in a color that closely matches your skin tone. These caps help create the illusion of a scalp and minimize the grid pattern of the lace.

Step 5. Apply alcohol with a cotton ball or paper towel to clean skin around the edges of your natural hairline. You want to remove all excess oils from your skin.

Step 6. Apply scalp protector to skin in cleaned areas.

Liquid Adhesive ApplicationDouble-Sided Tape Application

Step 1. Using an application brush or a wooden applicator stick, apply adhesive just beyond your hairline as instructed by the adhesive manufacturer. Once the glue is ready, press the lace down to your skin with the end of a tail comb.

Step 2. Repeat procedures around the perimeter of your head in small sections. If you need to make any adjustments, use alcohol or solvent on a Q-tip to re-apply the affected areas.

Step 3. Tie edges with a silk scarf until glue has fully cured.

Step 1. Prepare the lace wig, hair and skin as described above.

Step 2. Cut tape into desired shapes. Peel off the liner on one side and press firmly onto lace around the perimeter of the wig.

Step 3. Position wig on your head. Remove the tape liner in sections and firmly press onto skin with a tail comb.

Step 4. Tie edges with a silk scarf until glue has cured.

REMOVING YOUR LACE WIG

Never pull on your wig to remove from scalp or hair. Keep all products away from your eyes.

Spray adhesive remover or apply alcohol (using a pointed applicator bottle) onto the lace where the unit is glued. TIP: Wear a head band on your forehead to catch any liquid that may drip down your face and have a towel handy to wipe your face.

Allow time for the adhesive remover to break down the glue making it gooey. The lace should lift off your skin with the slightest tug. If the glue has not become gooey, apply more adhesive remover.

Once you have removed the wig, remove glue from skin with adhesive remover.

Wash lace unit (see our guide) and maintain your normal hair care regimen.

WASHING YOUR LACE WIG

Learning how to properly care for your lace wig will allow you to enjoy the unit for much longer. Avoid washing your lace wig while it’s still attached on your head. In order to properly care for your lace unit, you must shampoo and condition it while it is on a mannequin. Supplies required:

Step 1. Use a wide tooth comb to gently comb hair to free of any tangles.

Step 2. Position your lace wig on the wig head form in a sink or bathtub and saturate the hair with warm water while still on the wig head. Squeeze enough shampoo diluted with water to saturate the hair from root to tip in your palms and gently massage the hair. Repeat to ensure hair is clean from product and shampoo. Do not rub the hair during the washing process, as that may cause tangling. Also keep the wig on the head form in an upright position to avoid tangling of the unit.

Step 3. Apply a deep conditioner to the wig in the same manner the shampoo was applied and allow it to penetrate for 10 minutes, ensuring all strands are covered. Use cool water to rinse the conditioner. Make sure that all residue has been removed.

Step 4. Once all conditioner has been removed from the hair, gently squeeze the hair to reduce the amount of water. Use a wash cloth or hand towel to gently soak excess water.

Step 5. Allow wig to air dry. When dry, avoid excessive combing. Style as desired with flat iron or curler.

Step 6. Turn the wig inside out and place it on your mannequin so that the lace is exposed. Spray the unit with the Knot Sealer or Fray Block, which prevents excess shedding.

    PREVENTING SHEDDING

Tip 1:  Do not scratch your head while wearing your unit

    • If you have an inch pat your head with your hand.
    • If itching continues, remove the unit and treat your scalp with an anti-itch shampoo

Tip 2:  Avoid pulling out your knots

    • Always comb out your unit before washing it.  This prevents tangling
    • Only use a wide tooth comb or wig brush to detangle your unit
    • Do not be too rough while combing and washing your lace wig.  This can loosen the knots on your unit.
    • Comb your unit from the tip of the hair going up towards the knots.

Tip 3: Protect your knots by using  Knot Sealer

    • Knot sealer is a product used to aid in preventing your hair system from shedding due to loose knots.  Knot sealers is sold in a small spray bottle.  When using Knot Sealer turn the wig inside out, and spray it on the lace  standing 6 to 8 inches away.
    • When sealing a Lace Front Wig you must make sure to seal the wefts of the unit.
    • Reseal the knots on your unit after every wash
    • Only use knot sealer on a unit that is completely dry

Tip 4:  Remove left over glue before washing your unit

    • Left over glue can build up on the lace and lead to bald spots.

Tip 5:  Avoid using products with high alcohol content

    • Products with high alcohol content, such as some kinds of hair spray, can damage the hair and result in breakage.

Tip 6:  Let your unit air dry

    • Dryer heat can split the knots and increase your units risk of shedding.
    • To speed up the process use your dryer on its cool setting.

Tip 7:  When sleeping wear a silk scarf or braid your unit

    • When sleeping and wearing your unit it is best to braid the hair so that it does not tangle while you are sleeping.
    • Comb your unit out prior to wrapping it in a scarf before bedtime. Do not wear any hair ties or clips on your hair overnight since this can lead to tangling.
    • Wrapping your hair in a silk scarf helps prevent friction which results in shedding.  You can  dress your pillow(s) in a satin pillowcase to avoid friction.
    • When you are not wearing your unit store it on a styrofoam head or wire wig stand.

    Tip 8:  Moisturize your wig

    • Unfortunately, your unit does not receive moisture from the scalp like your natural hair.  Wigs must therefore be consciously moisturized.
    • Stay away from using products that are very oily or greasy on your unit
    • Try using moisturizing products made just for wigs.  These products are specifically blended to avoid the raising of the cuticle, which can lead to tangling.
